(vertically across page one, SML) The 11 of Feb. all of our class were down to Edgerton to the meeting of the Wis. Dairymens association. It was 5 a fine trip R.R. fare 75¢ round trip. All the dairy boys were also down In all 116 from the U.W. attended the meeting 10 1220 University Av. Madison, Wis. 1 o'clock P.M. Feb. 20–1897 Dear parants I received your letter 15 and money order this forenoon. I have got more money then I need now. I think I will have some 8 or 9 dollars to bring along home. I was down town yesterday and got me some Beechams pills and took a good dose 20 last night and this morning I beleave that has cured my cold some I felt bad yesterday but to-day I am feeling better I beleave it is some sickness. Most of our boys have it some are over and others 25 are getting it. This forenoon I was down to the farm and judged 3 hogs Everything is hogs now. I got a poor standing on dairy cows. I only got 76 1/2 I expected more on cows. On sheep I 30 got 73 3/4 On veterinary science my average was 81 1/2 Yesterday afternoon as were through judgeing I went up to Nielsons the photographer and got our class pictur it looks very nice. It will be a hard job to get it home it is to big to put in my 35 trunk it is 18x22 inches and my trunk is only 14x27in. I don't look very good on it I have to small eyes. But there are more of the boys that have small eyes. The sun shone on the snow quite a little and so some of us got small eyes. 40 We have 7 instructors on the pictur with us all except Prof Henry Prof. King + Prof. Goff. They were to lazy to go up to the capitol This afternoon we have a lectur by Prof. Babcock on creaming. Examinations are comeing fast now. Monday we have one on drainage 45 I don't expect to get much Mr. Jones left for Mineral Point yesterday. He got a telegram from home that his father was very sick. He left his young wife home with me. to take care of her. – One of Walds girls stayed over night with her. We had a little 50 rain this morning. snow is mostly gone. After the lectur I will go and cash my order and mail this letter. sent uncle Charley two books you may ask him if he received them or not. he never let me know.
