LINGUIST. SCONNIE*. LOVER OF ELEPHANTS, CROCHET AND METAL CONCERTS.Born and raised in Wisconsin. Exchange student to Kaltenkirchen, Schleswig-Holstein at 16. Lots of happy accidents led me to study German linguistics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison, where I received my PhD in 2017.
In 2019, I moved to Flensburg, Germany, working first as an Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2019-2021), then as a postdoctoral researcher and research associate in the Institute for Frisian Studies and Minority Research at the Europa-Universität Flensburg. In January 2023, I started working on a German Research Foundation (DFG Eigene Stelle) funded project titled, "Visibilizing Normative Regional Historical Multilingualism (ViNoRHM): Ideology, Policy, and Practice".
