This collection was  collected by August and Alexander Krueger of Dodge County, WI. Because this collection was gathered by father and son, there are several generations present. It is made up of over 145 letters written in the US from 1877-1941. The majority of this collection (123 documents) is in English,  and only 22 are in German. There are 52 known authors in this collection.

Krueger Collection, Originals held by the Wisconsin Historical Society Library. Most of the collection (especially the English letters) was previously transcribed by Angela Bagwell and Mike Olson, in their manuscript. German transcriptions included here have been added by me, as well as Alex Krueger’s memory album and the 1921 letter to the Dodge County Citizen. All other transcriptions included here are included due to additions or alternate interpretations, indicated by underlined segments. Bagwell & Olson’s transcriptions are left-aligned and include line numbers, but no page breaks. Transcriptions which I have added, have added spacing to mimick the original spacing, and I have added line and page numbers to show page breaks.

Krueger Collection index

Letters listed in bold are in German, others are in English. Some letters listed in the indexes are not used in analysis; all excluded from analysis are noted. For more transcription conventions go here.
